Summary:
The position supports the Platform Services team in support of the Air Force 844th Communications Group on both NIPRnet and SIPRnet domains at locations throughout the National Capital Region (NCR), primarily at JBA, JBAB, PentagonThe Platform Services team includes 10
staff across a wide range of technical disciplines, providing Tier 2 and Tier 3 support for the entire infrastructure and platform services hosted on-premise for the Air Force in the NCRThe infrastructure includes Windows and Linux systems, VMware-based virtualization, MS SQL and Oracle databases, and associated data center network capabilities such as load balancing and 802.
1x policy enforcementCandidate will be responsible for maintaining Tier 2 and Tier 3 support for Windows systems in a highly dynamic and demanding environmentThe Challenge:
o Perform routine maintenance of Windows Servers and applications.
o Supports, and may lead when appropriate, tasks associated with the build, implementation, and administration of the On-Premises environment.
o Works with IT management and/or stakeholders to deliver allocated server administration tasks within timeframes defined.
o Monitors and analyzes server performance across the organization and recommend and remedy current and future performance bottlenecks.
o Conducts OS hardening to required security level.
o Supports vulnerability remediation activities to server environment as per guidance of the security team and recommends implementation plans when required.
o Enforces IT security policies, standards & practices.
o Support with incident resolution activities and escalationso Document changes to the systems following company change management policy.
o Create and maintain complete technical documentation for relevant processes or new features to assist standardization across the organization.
o Collaborate with other IT staff, including networking, security, end point and collaboration tools teams, to facilitate effective issue resolution.
o Monitor and support license compliance and renewal activities for related server environment.
o Suggest and implement improvements to the environment What Sets You Appart:
o A Bachelor's degree in a Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, or a related field with 2
years of relevant experience or a Masters with less than 2 years of prior relevant experienceAdditional years of experience will be accepted in lieu of a degree.
o 2
years of experience performing the duties of a Windows Administrator Systems Administrator assisting with the design of enterprise system architectures and implementing solutions within hybrid technology ecosystems; including Microsoft Windows OS server and VMware.
o Active Secret Clearance.
o Experienced with Windows Active Directory infrastructure (Unclassified & Classified).
o Experienced with Windows DNS, DHCP.
o Experienced with various client hardware including HP and Dell laptops, desktops, and associated peripherals.
o Experience with PowerShell.
o Knowledge and experience in a ticket management solution to include Remedy or ServiceNow.
o Knowledge and experience in working with the Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) /Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM).
o Knowledge and experience security hardening to include Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs)Additional Qualifications You May Have:
o Experienced with DoD patch Management and Vulnerability Remediation (Process and Tools) to include Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS) reporting.
o Knowledge and experience in working Imaging solutions to include Windows Deployment Services (WDS) / Microsoft Deployment Toolkit (MDT)o Experienced with VMware vCenter for server management tasksOriginal Posting Date:
